Services & Organizations to Highlight
APCC is a Sacramento-based nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting mental health and wellness within Asian and Pacific Islander communities. They offer culturally and linguistically appropriate services through various programs, including the Transcultural Wellness Center and initiatives supporting seniors. Volunteer opportunities encompass workshop facilitation, fundraising events, youth activities, and outreach programs.
National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is built on the diverse contributions of volunteers who facilitate program administration, outreach, and advocacy. Volunteer roles include assisting with support groups, educational programs, and community events, all aimed at promoting mental health awareness and support.
CCHCP specializes in training and consulting to enhance culturally competent communication and practices across cultures and languages in health care. They offer programs geared towards medical interpreters, community clinics, hospitals, and other health and human services organizations. Engagement opportunities may include participating in or facilitating training sessions.
My Sister's House addresses domestic violence by providing a culturally appropriate and responsive safe haven, job training, and community services. They seek volunteers with experience in the mental health field to co-facilitate support groups, present on mental health topics, and serve as advocates for survivors.
